Finland is competing the first time in the Spearfishing world championships held in
Arraial Do Cabo, Brazil - November 7-10, 2002. We are only Nordic team that is
participating in world cup. The whole Scandinavia is counting for us.
Team Kampela - Finnish national team has a good change to success in world cup. Our competitor Matti Pyykkö was 4th in last years Kristiansund cup in Norway and he was member of winning team, leaving even French national team behind. He is also two times Nordic champion. Our competitors are good shape and ready for challenges.

Some special rules of the competition:
The organizers took a decision for restricting the catch per competitor, which was supported by CMAS, as follows:
- Maximum allowed number of fishes of one species per competitor - 10
- 3 fishes maximum allowed per competitor from the species BADEJOS, CHERNES and GAROUPAS (minimum weight 2 kg).
- Maximum acceptable weight per fish - 12.5 kg and fixed 12,500 points.
- A list of species banned for hunting. Hunting on any species from the list will result in immediate disqualification.
- Minimum allowed weight of a valid fish - 500 grams.
