What a nice catch, great job!!! That used to be fish of my dreams. Spent one month at Norway it was 1975 hoping to see fish like that. I thought that fish up to 70 Kg was possible. We stayed after Nordic championships that was held at last weekend of May at Fosnavag. It was snowing first of and water was 8c. We had 6mm wetsuits stiff, chafing , had a some bad cramps after getting too cold. Wetsuits frozen stiff in during night, we slept in a tent. Dived hard up to 20m of ice water. Not many fish around, but it got better towards end of the trip,,,but no big Halibut. Water was cold, but girls friendly and warm,,we had a good time.!
In fact ,,,That halibut is still fish of my dreams. Next year I am sixty,,,my knees are working fantastic after recent operation,,,I have 7mm wetsuit used only few times in New Zealand. Is there any excuse to try my luck one more time next year. Idea of tent does not turn me on much anymore after living in Australia last 34 years ( I dont think my wife would let me have any those girls in a tent to keep me warm either) Nice 60th birthday present,,,,,100+Kg halibut !!!!???? Dreams are made to be followed!!!!
It is 3.30 in a morning and I can not sleep?????
Cheers Jorma
