Spearfishing in Iceland

I was curious to know if anyone spearfishes in Iceland. Is spearfishing freshwater/saltwater permitted?

I have lived in Iceland for 2 years and i m sorry to communicate that the spearfishing is totally forbidden both on fresh and saltwaters, if they catch you with a spear gun they just keep it and fine you. So better you plan a photo safari or just take the chance in Keflavik airport, even if a speargun is a bit difficult to hide (and they often xrays your luggage when you check out also, so be carefull on how many booze you have as well)
