11.1.2007 Solomon Island, Guadalcanal

Postby Maza » 13.1.2007 2:03:19

We came with Reea from Port Vila to Honiara by plain in 2 hours. Joseba was waitig as at the airport which was normal because we should meet at the city. And there was a reason. Mierda, Joseba has lost his luggage. The big speargun bag didnt arrived. He has been already 2 days tracing it, but Quantas has lost it. So, Joseba super nervious.

Anyway, we went to York Harbour where is the local passanger boats to the islands close by. We met Charles and he proposed to go with him to the west of Guadalcanal. Charles is a professional spearfisher and he told this place is the best. Even there is some islands like Iggela and Simbo, but there people has been fishing too much with the dynamite.

We left and the boat trip was 90 minutes. We arrived in the most mysterious jungle I have ever seen. A little river, with so much trees, bushes, plants. But thank gos no crocodiles. We found a guest house from Fransiscan society. Super nice sisters and brothers. At the night the thunderstorm was like at Raves at lepakko, standing beside the loud speaker.

In the morning we left for fishing. Boat and the one canoe which will help us getting the fish up. The visibility was 23 meters and water temperature only +29 celcius. The problem was that at Josebas speargun bag, there was all our 1 mm lycra suits also, so we have to fish with the 3 mm suits. It was like at sauna. Ok, first day we realised that is was not the best season. The season is from June to october. Then only the fisrt 20 meters is warm so all the big fish is up. No the water is super hot also very deep so the big fish is very deep. We shooted many samll fishes to the Brothers but the big fish was not at the party. But the sharks were. Almost every dive you could see some. But when we were together no problem. In the end of the day when Joseba was diving himself, they came one meter of him and they were tasting the fish what Josebas was pulling up. Also in the end we saw at 30 meters in the steam cliff, one huge dog thooth Tuna and some big Jacks, but wery deep, there was also big sharks swimming. Too deep war the first day.
